You recently received a letter from a friend asking for your advice on whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/ she should get a job. Write a letter to this friend. In your letter: • say why she will not enjoy going to college • explain why getting a job is a good idea • Suggest the type of job that would be suitable.
Dear Ana,
I received your letter yesterday. I am glad to know that you are in good health.
Regarding your dilemma about higher study versus a job, I would definitely advise you to get a job. As far as I know you, you have always liked gaining skills through hands-on experiences rather than studying theories.
Although
I personally respect and value university degrees, I believe there is not much that will add up to your skillset, making it a boring experience for you.
Since you have to support your parents back home financially, and also
cover your little brother’s study expenses, I definitely advice you to get employed. You can definitely join college after a few years if things get normal and you feel like it. Remember our senior Chris from high school? He worked for five years in an IT firm before joining the university.
What about you trying to pursue a career in sales and marketing? I remember you winning the sales pitch competition in our high school. You are smart and very good at talking with people, making you an idle person to succeed in this
field.
All the best.
