You are not happy with the course you are doing at college and would like to change a different course. Write a letter to the college director requesting to change your course. You should include details about – what course you are doing now – why you are not satisfied with that course – what course would you like to change to.

Dear Mr Qasem, I'm writing to you regarding the course that I've studied since the first semester and asking for changing it to another one. Before jumping into reasons and the alternative subject, let me give you a lapse about my current studying which is Biology.
Although
this
pathway is considered one of the best and most popular, I don't think it's suitable for my needs.
Due to
the majority of the subject being about animals and human organs.
Therefore
, I believe there are some standards which are important to my feature career disappointedly not included. As I wish to be a web developer I found there are no significant or relative contents that could be introduced in my current course.
Not to mention
the unacceptable and exceeded number of students that make understanding more difficult.
Nevertheless
, the tutor is not fully qualified and doesn't has the strong ability to transfer information to the students.
However
, after deep and sophisticated searching I am pretty sure the Mathematics class is quite appropriate and has a direct relation to my expected wanted career.
This
is because of compromising binary numbers, complex calculations and properly connected fundamentals. I hope you accept my request and take my concerns into consideration. Yours sincerely, Ali Nasser

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
