The chart shows how frequently people in the USA ate in fast food restaurants between 2003 and 2013.
The bar chart below illustrates data about the frequency of having a meal in fast
food
restaurants in the USA in a ten-year period, from 2003 to 2013.
Overall
,
while
the proportion of
people
who eat out fast foods once or twice a month, and a few times a year increased over the decade, other frequency categories have experienced a drop. If we look at the figures for 2003, the highest proportion of
people
used to consume junk
food
once a week, at more than 30%.
By contrast
, less than 5% of
people
had their meal in a fast
food
restaurant once a day, and it was the lowest figure for that year. Despite the considerable rise in the percentage of
people
who ate several times a week and once a week in 2006, these figures
then
plummeted to their lowest in 2013, accounting for marginally above 15% and well under 30%, respectively. Another significant change is in the percentage of
people
who ate fast
food
once or twice a month. In 2003, they accounted for 30%;
however
, despite experiencing a reduction of 5% in 2006, the figure
then
peaked at more than 30%.
