The graph below shows the number of shops that closed and the number of new shops that opened in one country between 2011 and 2018.
The line graph compares the annual amount of shop closures and
openings
in one country in the period from 2011 to 2018.
It is clear that
both the
number
of newly opened shops and closed stores experienced relative fluctuations over the 9-year period. The year 2014 marks the point at which the
number
of shop
openings
overtook that of shop closures. In 2011, investors opened around 8500 new shops in one country, compared to only around 6300 stores that closed.
Then
the annual
openings
had a dramatic fall in 2012 at approximately 4000,
while
the
number
of closed shops dropped by 400 slightly. Over the following 3
years
, the line of both closures and
openings
rose over the same period, reaching around 6000 in 2014. In the year 2015, the
number
of
openings
stayed roughly the same for the next 3
years
and
finally
had a slight decline in the
last
year 2018. Between the
years
2014 to 2016, the shutdown of stores changed dramatically and later remained constant in the final three
years
.
