Some People claims that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement. To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their wastes?

These days, the issue of
waste
management and recycling has become significant, which concerns environmental sustainability and resource conservation.
While
I am convinced that a new recycling policy to force
people
to recycle can help in
this
situation, I do not agree
that is
the only measure that the
government
should take. On the one hand, enacting the laws would be one possible way to tackle the
waste
problem.
Government
should impose a legal obligation on households to separate all
waste
into different bins.
Furthermore
, the
government
can have penalties for those who do not comply with
this
law,
for instance
, a small amount of money, community service or prison for repeat offenders.
As a result
, the environment will be cleaner and less wasteful.
On the other hand
, the
government
should focus on educating adults and children
instead
of punishing or imposing recycling laws.
People
are more likely to recycle if they understand the benefits of recycling to the environment. To be specific, many individuals do not recycle because they do not know what happens to the
waste
they generate.
For example
, children could be taught about recycling at schools, and homeowners could be informed about the environmental impact of household
waste
.
Therefore
, recycling maybe become a habit for
people
In conclusion, perhaps we do need to make recycling a legal requirement, but
this
would certainly not be the only solution to encourage
people
to dispose of their
waste
more responsibly.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
