In contemporary society, there has been a growing concern about smoking. It is argued by some people that smokers have the freedom to smoke in the open.
However
, I totally disagree with
this
statement, because
this
habit is dangerous to the welfare of non-smokers
as well as
encourages young people to embrace the habit.
To begin
with, smoking in public places can pose significant health risks to non-smokers.
Therefore
, inhaling the smoke can trigger detrimental reactions like coughing, chest pain, and irritations, which, if consistently exposed , can result in various illnesses. A case in point is the Dong Nai General Hospital's data, which showed a rise in hospitalization
due to
individuals’ exposure to secondhand smoke.
Consequently
,
this
behaviour adversely impacts the well-being of those who are in proximity to smokers. Another aspect to take into account is that public tobacco consumption can inadvertently promote its use among the young generation.
This
is owing to the societal acceptance of
this
behaviour, making it more likely for them to perceive smoking as a commonplace activity without comprehending its potential harm to their physical condition. As an example, a report from the Bao Thanh Nien in 2022 indicated a rise in the number of individuals under the age of 18 who engage in smoking over the past decade.
As a result
,
this
trend has detrimental repercussions on the youth, significantly influencing the moral and cultural values of society. In a nutshell, I strongly disagree with the point of view that smoking in public areas should be permitted for smokers
due to
the potential health risks it poses and its negative effects on the younger members of a community.
