IELTS general writing task 1 sample: You have won a holiday to Hawaii with one extra ticket. Write a letter to someone to invite them along with you. In the letter: – Explain what has happened and that you would like them to come – Give details of when the trip will take place – Inform the person of the things they will need for the trip
Dear John,
I hope
this
letter finds you well. It's been a month since we last
met. I have a surprise for you.
I am writing to tell you that I won a holiday to Hawaii for two people. I got the call from the organizer yesterday evening. And guess what? I want you to come along with
me on the trip. Since it's been ages since we've had a holiday together, it could be the perfect opportunity for us to have some quality time.
Let me give you details about the trip. It will begin on the 5th of September, after about a month, and last
for 10 days. On that day, our plane takes off at 10 in the morning, so we have to be at the airport before 8. We will be accompanied by representatives from the tour organizer and other winners. It will be a five hours flight.
Let me tell you about the stuff we will need. While
the prize includes plane fares, accommodation and lunches, we will have to bear the cost of everything else, so bring along some money with you; a few hundred dollars should suffice. Also
, since the weather will be a bit colder, bring along some warm clothes. And lastly
, don't forget to bring your DSLR camera, so that we can snap some good quality photographs.
I can't wait to hear from you, my friend.
Best wishes,
