I was so surprised but excited about this
good news. I knew that you had a tough time when you graduated with your master’s degree in Beijing since your parents hoped that you could go back to work in your hometown Xi’an, though, that said, you insisted on staying in Beijing with Danny. Now all these finally
pay off with a happy end.
Why don’t we catch up next week on Friday if you’re free? Your favourite Thai restaurant, which, by the way, still has the most famous green curry in the city, has reopened recently. I think it’d be a great place for us to have a celebration.

Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
