In 2011, the number of shop closures
was approximately 6,200 and it surpassed the opening store
volume during 2011-2012. In 2013, the count of the closure shops was the highest but by the year ,2015 it drastically fell to about 500. During 2015-16 it sharply grew to almost 5,200 and the figure reached a plateau which lasted from 2016-2018 except for a small dip in 2017.
