You have rented a house by a lake for the summer. Write a letter to a friend. In your letter •describe the house •describe how you are spending your time there •invite your friend to come and visit Begin your letter as follows: Dear………..

How are you doing? It's been a long to met you. I was not able to write a letter to you because of my busy schedule with work
as well as
studies. Today, I am writing to inform you that I will be in New York near your house on my summer vacation.
To begin
with, my manager provided me with a free family tour trip to New York without any cost because of my dedication and attendance. Afterwards, my family booked an apartment outside of the city named Albany to relax without any daily interruption. The condo has a personal balcony and a jacuzzi.
Moreover
, there is a small lake in front of the home which is followed by the forest to go hiking. I am excited after seeing
this
breathtaking view in pictures. Apart from that, we are planning to spend our time efficiently.
Firstly
, it is kind of fun to go swimming and sunbathe after a long time.
Secondly
, on our second day, we can go hiking in the nearby forest.
Thirdly
, we can go to see the night of New York as it is famous because of the lights and things
such
as the liberty of the statue. I know it's hard for you because of your studies but could you please come to join us for a few days? It is been a long time since we talked, and had fun together. It will be in the second week of July and I am attaching all the details with
this
letter. Let me know your plans. Hope to see you soon. Thanks Your's lovingly, Gurpinder Kaur

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
