The chart below shows the results of three surveys on absenteeism in a particular European country in the years 2000, 2005, and 2010
The bar chart compares changes in absenteeism percentage for five various reasons in a particular country in Europe in the three years 2000, 2005 and 2010, commencing in 2000.
Overall
, while
there were downward trends in the proportion of respondents saying that they were absent from work
due to
illness and family duties, the opposite was true for those who claimed stress, personal needs, and unexpected problems were their reasons. In addition
, the main reason for the absence from work
of participants was constantly being recorded as illness, whereas
stress was seen as the least popular one.
In the first year, nearly 45% of individuals in the survey stated that they were absent from work
due to
sickness. Despite witnessing a gradual decline, this
reason remained the most prevalent during the examined period, with exactly 35% being recorded in 2010. Family obligation mirrored a similar pattern, but to a lesser extent, starting at about 27%, followed by a slight decrease to just over 25% in 2005, before levelling off at the same level by 2010.
Looking at the remaining causes of why people were not at work
, the percentage of respondents surveyed who attributed it to personal needs, such
as appointments and so on, was 14% in 2000, after which it had increased considerably to 23% by 2010. Stress, meanwhile, was seen a slower growth rate, standing at around 6%. Thereafter
, it rose significantly to roughly 12% in the final year, regardless of a small drop of 2% in 2005. Similarly
, the figure for unexpected issues ( transport, weather and suchlike) climbed from approximately 8% in 2000 to a peak at nearly 15% after 5 years, before ending at about 13% in 2000.Submitted by vinhlehoang85 on
