of a river is stored behind a high-level dam. Following

, during the day an intake opens up and a pipe transfers water
towards the power
station, where currents of water
make the turbines rotate and produce power

fed into the generator and that is
how electricity
is made. After its production, travels through power
lines and is delivered to the national grid.
At night, the mentioned process is reversed and water
is pumped from the low-level to the high-level reservoir, which happens by taking advantage of electricity
from the grid and reversible turbines. The flow in the pipe is also
reversed and the intake is closed during this
