Tone
The letter should maintain a more formal tone throughout, refraining from using phrases that might come across as overly casual or colloquial, such as 'Don't take it for impertinence.'
Structure
Paragraphing could be improved by clearly separating different ideas into their own paragraphs; for example, explaining the current financial situation in one paragraph, detailing your plan for payment in the next, and assuring future prompt payment in another.
Closing
Use a more formal and polite closing, appropriate for the context of addressing your landlord. 'Best regards' is acceptable, but ensure that the tone matches the rest of the letter.
Idea per paragraph
Ensure that each paragraph contains a single idea for clarity and to enhance logical flow in the letter.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
