Some people say that the only reason for learning foreign languages is in order to travel or to work in foreign country. Others say that this is not the only reason why someone learn foreign language.
It is undeniable that learning foreign languages is becoming increasingly prevailing among people, which has
accordingly
sparked a sharp dispute among critics so as to learn whether they are mastered for job prospects and watching the outer world or there could also
be other reasons. I subscribe to the view that individuals tend to have further
reasons for learning a second language
as work and travel could not be the only factor to be considered.
On the one hand, it is widely advocated that acquiring a knowledge of other language
but for native one seems to be in light of travelling around the world. By way of illustration, having been competent in a certain foreign language
, a person’s potential to face an extensive range of issues associated with a trip, such
as finding a hotel or walking around the city, could somewhat dwindle. As well as
journey, business purpose could also
be an extra reason for mastering a second language
since it is of great use to promote business on a large scale.
On the other hand
, it is hugely argued that although
the above-mentioned can be viewed as sole motives, there seem to be other factors which should be included, like educational goals. Having been skilled in other languages, people are likely to open up an opportunity for themselves to be educated abroad, thereby making it accessible to be an expert in their own major qualification by sharing ideas with foreigners. But for what has just been stated, learning foreign languages plays an integral role in becoming conscious of the culture and the way of living of other countries, by which learners might gain the potential to broaden their horizons.
Taking everything into account, even though work and travel are highly regarded as the only explanation for becoming a master of a foreign language
