The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical apliances and amount of time spent doing in households in one country between 1920 and 2019. Summarises the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparison where relevant.
The line graphs illustrate how the possession and usage
hours
of 3 different types of household electrical appliances in a specific country changed during a period commencing from 1920 to 2019.
Overall
, it can be seen that despite the clear upward trend in the ownership of these appliances, the number of
hours
spent on housework per week decreased over time.
According to
the first graph, in 1920, washing machines showed a higher value at the beginning of the period( 40%), and the ownership of refrigerators was almost zero.
However
, over the following 25 years,
this
gap closed as the percentage of households with refrigerators climbed noticeably to 60% in 1945. After that, it continued to go up,
then
levelled off in 1980, which is equivalent to the ownership percentage of vacuum cleaners. It is evident that
at the end
of the period, the most bought electrical appliances were washing machines and vacuum cleaners. Shifting to the other line graph, we can see that the number of
hours
spent on doing housework experienced a sharp fall, as numbers dropped from 50
hours
in 1920 to approximately 15
hours
per week in 1980.
Then
it began to fall slightly till 2019
