The two pie charts compare the global proportion of energy consumed versus the percentage of electricity generated in the previous year. Units are given in percentage.
Overall
,
although
fossil fuels were predominantly used and produced, there were more options for the consumption of renewable resources. In regard to the exhaustion of energy, non-renewable sources were primarily utilised, with oil topping the chart at over a
third,
while
coal and gas accounted for just above a quarter and a fifth, respectively.
This
value was followed by combustible renewables and waste at 10.6%,
whereas
, other forms collectively comprised less than 10%. Power generation,
on the other hand
, was significantly dominated by coal, which supplied just under two-fifths of the total. Oil and gas together constituted 13.6% lower than coal.
However
, hydro and nuclear power combined almost equalled coal in electricity production, with 16.1% and 5.7% in respective order. Interestingly, only 2.1% of electricity was distributed from other sources.
