Focusing on marriage statistics, in 1981, Americans topped the chart with just over 10 marriages per 1,000 people

figure dropped to approximately 7 by 1994, although
it remained the highest among the regions

started with high marriage rates ranging from about 6 to 7 per 1,000 people
but all saw reductions by the end of the period. Notably, Denmark
had the lowest number of marriages in 1981 at 5 per 1,000 people
, but this
figure rose to around 8 by 1994, making it the second highest.
As for divorce statistics, only the USA and Denmark
experienced declines. The US saw a decrease from about 5 divorces per 1,000 people
to just over 4, while
Denmark
's rate slightly reduced from 3 to 2.8 per 1,000 people
. Germany's divorce rate remained constant at 2 per 1,000 people
for both years. The UK and Finland saw increases but remained within the range of 2 to 4 per 1,000 people
