The chart and table below show the average number of children born to one woman and the average age of women when they had their 1st child in 2 countries between 1920 and 2019
The chart provides information on the
number
of births in China and the USA between 1920 and 2000. The data clearly illustrate a downward trend in both countries.
In the beginning, China as well as
the USA followed a similar pattern. In 1920 the birth rate started at the level of 10, 000 later experiencing a moderate growth to 12,000 in 1925 and, subsequently
, a slight fall to 10,000 again in 1930. From this
time the number
of kids in China began to increase achieving 15,000 in 1950. However
, after
this
, a dramatic fall has been witnessed to only 5 thousand in 1945. For the next 10 years, their number
remained constant but since then
there has been rapid growth peaking at 20,000 in 1955. Once again, after that, the number
descended dramatically to 8,000 later experiencing a moderate fall to only 3,000 in 2000.
In contrast
, the USA after 1930 started to rise achieving 12,000 in 1940. From this
time, however
, a rapid decrease has been observed to 7,000 in 1950. Then
, the number
of kids started to rise peaking at 14,000 in 1955. After
this
, a moderate drop has been witnessed to only 4,000 in 2000.Submitted by kuba.glogowski on
