In today's world, people spend a lot of money on appearance because they want to younger. Why does this happen? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Nowadays, some
people
invest a substantial amount of money in maintaining a youthful look. There are two main reasons for
this
appearance-related anxiety; personally, I believe
this
is an unfavourable trend from both personal and societal perspectives.
To begin
with, the significant expenditure on self-image primarily stems from two causes.
Firstly
, many individuals currently hold an unhealthy standard of attractiveness
due to
the negative influence of media and societal pressure. They think that looking attractive equates to a slim figure and firm, elastic skin, and they fear growing old,
consequently
spending heavily on various products and services.
Secondly
, it is undeniable that younger-looking and attractive
people
tend to obtain more advantages, particularly in the workplace, where some employers prioritise physical appearance over skills and abilities.
As a result
, to secure additional opportunities in the job market,
people
feel compelled to invest heavily in enhancing their outward image.
While
this
trend brings certain positive effects,
such
as increasing confidence, it ultimately exerts a harmful influence on individuals and society as a whole. First of all, from a personal perspective, spending heavily on staying young can lead to financial pressure, as most
people
cannot afford various aesthetic treatments because of their high prices. If they spend excessively on enhancing their looks, they may even be unable to maintain a basic standard of living.
Additionally
, an unhealthy sense of aesthetics may contribute to a society overly focused on physical appearance, potentially leading to severe appearance-related anxiety and poor mental health.
Lastly
, if looks become a priority,
people
may spend more time improving their image rather than developing genuine skills,
such
as communication and teamwork. For companies,
this
focus could mean overlooking candidates with real competencies, leading to a shortage of talent needed to drive innovation and productivity. Ultimately,
this
may hinder societal development. In conclusion, the trend of placing excessive emphasis on outward image is, in my opinion, a detrimental development for both individuals and society as a whole.
