Some people argue that the importance of public libraries is decreasing because of the technological development,so allocating national budget on them is a waste of money. To what extent,do you agree with this statement?

In recent years, advancements in technology have diminished the role of public
libraries
in people’s lives.
As a result
, some argue that reducing the national budget allocated to
libraries
and redirecting it to other sectors would benefit society. From my perspective, I agree with
this
idea, as will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
To begin
with, opponents of reducing library budgets argue that funding
education
is never wasteful, as
education
forms the foundation of national progress. Despite the growing prevalence of technology, some individuals still prefer physical books over electronic ones.
This
is partly because excessive use of electronic devices can negatively affect health, causing problems
such
as poor eyesight, dry eyes, and posture-related issues.
Furthermore
, certain information,
such
as historical archives or local records, is often only available in
libraries
.
Therefore
, the government should not neglect
libraries
, as they remain important resources for some members of society.
On the other hand
, reliance on technology has grown significantly, making
libraries
less relevant in modern times. Today, people can access a wealth of knowledge from their smartphones or computers anytime and anywhere, which has reduced the need to visit
libraries
.
Consequently
, governments should consider reallocating library funds to other areas that could better support
education
.
For instance
, building schools in remote areas would provide children in underserved regions with better access to
education
.
Additionally
, improving school facilities, supporting teachers’ research, and funding academic competitions,
such
as the International Science Olympiad, could have a greater long-term impact on the country’s development. In conclusion,
while
libraries
still serve a purpose for certain individuals, their importance has declined
due to
technological advancements. Governments should adapt to these changes and reallocate resources to initiatives that align with modern educational needs and benefit society as a whole.
