Nowadays animal experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favour of them because of their benefits to humanity. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

The reason that many individuals state that animal experiments are morally wrong is that humans are conducting tests on sentient species. To put it in simple terms, scientists used to conduct research about the effects of new drugs and vaccines on hamsters and apes,

However

Thus

, many individuals believe that by subjecting these species to tests and research, we are going against their wills,

moral values.
Conversely

, there are inherent risks of launching a new medicine without having it tested, namely having side effects.
This

is because even though medicines are created to help our immune system fight off diseases and illnesses, they could bring about undesired results when contacting other chemicals inside our bodies.
For instance

Hence

, testing new drugs and other products on animals could minimize the risks for humans, as researchers could have a better understanding of how the products react with our bodies and immediately work on adjusting the formulas. In conclusion, I believe animal trials are crucial for the development of our civilization, as they could mitigate negative consequences, even though many individuals may claim that these trials are ethically wrong

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
