National days and religious festivals are often celebrated with much enthusiasm in many countries. While some people argue that governments and individuals spend excessive amounts of money on these events, others believe that these celebrations are essential for cultural and social reasons. In my opinion, the financial resources allocated to such festivities could be better used elsewhere, though there are arguments in favor of investing in them for their cultural significance.

Air flying consumes enormous amounts of fuel, especially long-haul flights, and contributes significantly to pollution. Some argue that instead of restricting car usage, we should discourage unnecessary air travel. I believe this contention possesses merit and should be pursued by the relevant authorities.

Some people say that instead of seeing the Internet as a way of opening up new communication possibilities world- wide, we should be concerned about the effect this is having on social interaction.
