task response
Task response: Your letter has all the needed parts. It says why you cannot come, asks to set a new time, and asks about the length and tests. If you want, you can add a simple apology line right at the start.
coherence
Coherence: The letter keeps a smooth flow. Keep each part on one idea and use small links if you need to move from one idea to another.
greeting and closing
Greeting and closing: Use a formal start and close. For a real feel, you may end with 'Yours sincerely' or 'Warm regards' and your name.
structure
Single idea per paragraph: Each paragraph should have one main idea. This helps the reader to see your point clearly.
tone
Polite tone and clear request to reschedule.
content
All parts of the task are included (reason, reschedule offer, questions).
Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
