Overall score
Score: 4. Your answer has a clear main view, but it is far too short for the task. You need to discuss both views and give more full ideas.
Task response
Discuss the view that students should pay for university. For example, you can say that people with a university degree may get better-paid jobs, so they can pay part of the cost.
Task response
Give your own view again at the end. Say if free education should be for all levels, or if the state should pay only for people who need help.
Task response
Add real examples. For example: free university can help students from poor homes become doctors, teachers, or engineers.
Coherence and cohesion
Use a clear four-part plan: first paragraph: introduce both views. Second: why people should pay. Third: why the government should pay and your view. Last: short ending.
Coherence and cohesion
Your first sentence is too long. Make it into short sentences. This will make your ideas easier to read.
Coherence and cohesion
Use simple linking words: “First”, “However”, “For example”, “As a result”, and “In my view”.
Language
Check spelling and repeated words: “opinion”, “educated”, “generation”, and “to give back to the country”. Also write “some people say”, not “some says”.
Task response
You give a clear view: the government should give free education.
Task response
You give a good main reason: free education can help build a strong country and a well-educated group of people.
Coherence and cohesion
You use a linking phrase, “On the other hand”, to show a new side of the topic.
Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
