Some people believe that school children should not be given homework by their teachers, whereas others argue that homework plays an important role in the education of children. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some argue that
school
teachers should not assign any
homework
to their students, while there are others who believe that it is important for a child’s education.
Although
homework
plays a very beneficial role in improving children academically, it does not give them enough
time
to pursue extra-curricular activities for self-development. On the one hand, people believe that
homework
improves academic results of students. If a student continuously practices the content taught to him in
school
, he will be able to memorize and use it easily.
For example
, according to a survey conducted by the Indian Education Council, 60% of students who topped their class attributed their success
to
Suggestion
in
completing
homework
assigned to them by their teachers.
However
, I do not agree with
this
view because it is important for children not to be involved in
school
work all the
time
and do other extra-curricular activities, which helps
further
develop their overall personality.
On the other hand
, many believe that assigning
homework
after
school
is detrimental
for
Suggestion
to
a child’s development. A student spends a substantial amount of
time
at
school
during the day, and If he is forced to do additional assignments at home, he will not have
time
to pursue other interests,
such
as sports and hobbies, which are equally important for a child’s overall growth. To illustrate, when a child plays sports with his friends, he learns the art of
team work
cooperative work done by a team (especially when it is effective)
teamwork
and mutual respect, which is impossible to acquire simply by reading books. I believe that
this
view is valid because students can learn a lot of “life-lessons” from these interests, and in the long run, have a positive effect on their lives. In conclusion,
although
homework
helps in improving a child’s academic result, there are other aspects of development which are equally important, and children need to be given free
time
to pursue them.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
