In the last century, the first man to walk on the moon said it was "a giant leap for mankind”. However, some people think it has made little difference to our daily lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Undeniably,
space
exploration has revolutionised the world. When the
first
man walked the moon, it created a furore in the world and marked us as a nation who wanted to explore far beyond the realms of earth. There is a section of the society who believe that
daily lives
Suggestion
the daily lives
of the common people have not changed much from
this
mission, I partially agree with
this
point of view. In practical terms, we have not benefitted much from
this
mission.
This
money
could have been spent on many health and welfare programs. As a nation, we are still at a stage
where in
(formal) where, in what respect
wherein
thousands die each year from hunger, don’t have sanitary facilities and die of diseases, suffer from a lack of water during the summers etc. The
money
invested
on

in
space
programs would ease some of these problems to a large extent as
space
program
budgets have a multibillion-dollar budget.
On the other hand
, sending a man on the moon put our country on the world man as a technologically advanced nation. The pride factor amongst the citizens increased, not to mention we started getting smaller projects from advanced nations to put their satellites in
space
for a fee as our
space
agency is known to work on a bootstrap budget and still deliver the intended results.
This
helped us self-fund our
space
program
to some
extent but
Accept comma addition
extent, but
still largely most of it is
tax payers

taxpayers
money
. I would be more inclined to accept the idea of a
space
program
self-funding itself for its missions against them using the
money
citizens pay taxes from, but
that is
currently not the case. In conclusion,
space
program
did put us on the map and was an inspiring achievement, but I believe helping the poorer section of our citizens is a far greater need of the hour than
space
missions.
