Many people are too scared to leave their home because of a fear of crime. Some people think that more should be done to prevent crime, whereas others feel that nothing can be done. What are your views?

In today's world, the
crime
rate has increased to an alarming level. People are afraid of leaving the premises of their homes to avoid being a victim of criminal activities. While some believe that proper measures should be taken to deter
such
activities; others reject
this
idea and believe that nothing can be done to prevent
crime
. I agree with the former approach of introducing adequate policies for prevention of
crime
. To start with, I believe that losing hope and doing absolutely nothing to deter
crime
and staying at home
further
encourages criminals; because of
this
submissive attitude,
law offenders

law, offenders
feel confident that they will not face any retaliation while committing
crime
and they keep indulging in their heinous acts. A solution to
this
worrying problem is to prepare general people, who are the prime victims of these acts, on how to tackle
such
situations.
This
can be achieved through self defence trainings open for the general public. These trainings can be made a mandatory part of our educational system. The same trainings can
also
be introduced in offices to ensure that maximum people participate and take advantage of
such
initiatives to address the issue at hand. I believe that introducing capital punishment, which ensures a system led by strict and transparent accountability laws

is another useful step to deter
crime
.
This
implies that once a criminal is caught, he should not only be strictly
penalized but

the punishment should
also
be carried out publicly to ensure that people get scared of the consequence of getting involved in a
crime
. I opine that
such
steps will help in addressing the issue of ever increasing
crime
rate. To conclude,
crime
is like a disease that can be prevented with certain precautionary measures. These include preparing the general public to handle
crime
and having strict laws to penalize the criminals. I am confident, that we as an educated nation can address
this
issue with an offensive attitude towards
crime
backed by a strict laws against the law offenders.
