Today more people are overweight than ever before. What in your opinion is the primary cause of this? What measures can be taken to overcome this epidemic?

The table compares the proportion of the population of one town who cycled in 2011,
according to
five
age
groups.
Overall
,
it is clear that
in all the
age
groups, the percentage of female cyclists was higher than male cyclists.
However
, for both genders, the proportion of the population who rode bicycles was lowest between the ages of 18 and 59. Just over half of all females and males rode bicycles in the
age
group 0-9, and
this
proportion remained high among 10-17 year old girls, at about 42%.
However
, among boys aged 10-17, the percentage who cycled declined by over half to less than 25%. The figures for the 18-39 and 40-59 year olds are much lower. In the former
age
group, only about 17% of women cycled, compared with just under 10% of men. Between the ages of 40 and 59, the figures fell
further
, to a little over 12% for women and 8 per cent for men.
However
, the percentage of those over 60 who rode bicycles
then
rose significantly, reaching 18.5% for women compared with around 13% for men.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
