Some people believe that school children should not be given homework by their teachers whereas others argue that homework plays an important role in the education of children. Discuss both views and give your opinion

While some think that giving
homework
to
school
children is unimportant, others consider assignments to be a crucial aspect of children's education. In my own view,
homework
is essential as it improves children's retention and their performance at
school
tremendously. From one point of view, people think the extra tasks given to children from
school
hinder them from taking up their responsibilities at home.
In other words
, when children are overburdened with assignments, they have little or no time to assist their parents in the house.
For instance
, a child who is supposed to do the dishes after
school
may fail to do so because there is an assignment to complete.
This
may suggest to children that it is okay to do the right things at the wrong time or ignore some responsibility for another.
Furthermore
, giving
kids
Suggestion
kids'
assignments can cause them to overwork themselves. For human beings to function properly, there is

a need
for a balance between work and rest.

Therefore, children
who spend too much time on
homework
have little chance to rest and may suffer some form of
dysfunctionality
. From another point of view, it is believed that children who receive assignments from their teachers have more retention of what they have been taught and excel at
school
. I agree with
this
opinion which can be linked to the saying that practice makes perfect. It is a known fact that regular exercise of an activity leads to higher proficiency in it. So children who undertake extra schoolwork become more proficient with a higher tendency to do better in their studies.
In addition
to
this
, some children only learn when they are in their comfort zones or being taught by people they are emotionally attached to
such
as their parents.
This
way, a child who was unable to grasp a concept in the classroom have the opportunity to understand the topic at home when he is guided by a parent. To summarise, despite varying opinions on the importance of
homework
to the education of
school
children, I think that assignments are very essential in helping children to practice more what they have been taught in the classroom and develop a higher level of proficiency in their schoolwork.
