Physical
work
involves utilizing one’s body strength to accomplish a task. Most of the blue collar jobs
such
as carpentry, masonry, plumbing involve a lot of physical
work
.
Although
these jobs involve a lot of physical
work
, they
also
require cognitive thinking
such
as problem solving in order to accomplish the given task. It is my opinion that people who perform physical
work
for a living should
also
be
paid the same on

. A country’s
economy
is dependent on its infrastructure
such
as roads, railways and airports. The Infrastructure sector is reliant on the blue collar

. Physical workers are the backbone of any developing
economy
as their skills are

required in driving the industries
such
as manufacturing, logistics and automobile. A perfect example of a country that utilized its brute manpower to improve its
economy
and remove millions of people from abject poverty is China. In order to ensure that they meet their economic targets and

build high quality infrastructure, China paid all their blue collar workers with salaries on par with the people with desk

jobs, thereby
giving them a sense of pride and ownership resulting in the creation of world class cities
such
as Shanghai, Wuhan. These cities in turn attracted a lot of foreign investment leading to the creation of white-collar jobs where people possessing university degrees can
work
. If a country wishes to emulate the fast growth trajectory of China, it would be more apt for them to pay their physical
laborers
someone who works with their hands; someone engaged in manual labor
labourers
in an equitable way resulting in all round growth.
