After having taught English for about 16 years in numerous
language
schools in my homeland, it is time to break boundaries as a prestigious educator by taking some internationally acknowledged
teacher
training courses
such
as TESOL, CELTA and DELTA. Apart from my deep-rooted vocational experience, I
also
benefit from numerous essential traits prioritized as: ambition, creativity, sociability and patience.
First
, as far as I know myself, I have always wanted to be the best and most distinguished
in my chosen career. When I was 20, I decided to get into university and get a degree in English literature because I believed that studying literature can help me acquire a deeper understanding of
this
language
.
Although
I was a freshman, I started teaching English in some
language
schools. Putting my foot in the door and making a name in my small hometown did not satisfy me, so I moved to Tehran, the capital of Iran.
One
thing good about living in
this
megacity
was that I worked with the most professional teachers in the same school, and they helped me elevate my pedagogical skills. After gaining experience for four years, I returned to Sanandaj to open my own
language
school, and according to many people, I’m
one
of the best IELTS instructors in my birthplace. In spite of the fact that I have accomplished several short-term goals in my career, I think my insatiable hunger for success is never-ending and I still need to progress.
Second
, I always search for the latest techniques, games and tasks before writing my lesson plans.
However
, as an original
teacher
, I do my best to modify them and come up with new activities. My students never get bored in
class
since they are always busy with several vivacious tasks in pairs and groups. Roleplaying different social skills, working in pairs and small groups, going on educational trips, motivating them to do some research and presenting some lectures are some examples of my
class
procedure.
Besides
, as the manager of a
language
school, I have weekly meetings with my colleagues to share our innovative thoughts and activities. In my perspective, creativity is an indispensable feature for teachers
students, classes and levels vary and diverse methods should be applied for handling these varieties.
The
third
most important characteristic of mine for being a good
teacher
is that I am a sociable person who helps others a lot. I have good social skills as well as I am assertive. In fact, my flexible personality has enabled me to get along well with all my students. Parents always count on me as a confident person to help them solve their children’s problems.
For example
, Hussein was a disruptive student who was dismissed from several classes. He was suffering from a lot of complexes, so he used to disrupt classes and annoy other students. I accepted him in my
class
and
instead
of making a
teacher
-student atmosphere, I tried being a friend with him. I gave him a sense of being important, so after a while he became
one
of my best students. Hussein is an English
teacher
now who can love his own students and be a positive member in the society. I sometimes tell him that if he wants to be a perfect
teacher
, it’s very necessary for him to be gregarious and helpful.
Finally
, how is it possible to make a good
teacher
without enduring difficult circumstances? Teachers are supposed to be patient enough to tolerate difficulties
such
as disruptive students, critical parents, moody head teachers and sometimes low salaries. These problems are inevitable, so undoubtedly we have to improve our capacity to encounter them logically. Once
one
of my students had a brawl with
one
of his classmates outside the
class
and unfortunately, he continued it in the
class
. It was a tough situation which needed my immediate reaction. I decided to divide the
class
into small groups to talk about classroom etiquette. In a lively
class
, they all shared several great ideas in English and at the end of the
class
, they both
and their classmates for their unacceptable
behaviormanner of acting or controlling yourself
. My patience and logical decision for managing my
class
at that time helped me turn a threat into an opportunity for enhancing speaking ability and rebuilding friendship among my students.
To sum up, on account of having vital characteristics
such
as my background in teaching and personal qualities, I predict an outstanding future for myself around the globe as a CELTA holder.
