The charts below show the main reasons for study among students of different age groups and the amount of support they received from employers.
The two bar charts illustrate the reasons for study provided by
students
according to
their age and how many support
they received from employers (in terms of time off and help with fees).
Overall
, it can be seen that a huge majority of young students
has chosen to study for career
purposes, whereas
a small portion of them studies “for interest”; on the contrary
, “interest” is the main reason for study provided by older students
. According to
the graph, the support
is high for young students
, it declines for middle-aged students
and then
increases again for older students
.
80% of students
under 26 studies for career
while
just 10% does it for interest. Ageing, the trend is inverted: the chart shows that only 20% of students
over 49 years studies for career
whilst 70% of them does it for interest. The career
reason declines gradually over the years. while
the interest reason grows constantly.
For what concerns the second
chart, students
under 26 are the ones with more support
: more than 60% of them has been helped with time off or with fees. Then
the support
declines: just around 30% of students
between 30 and 39 received some kind of help. After
this
, the percentage rises again: nearly 45% of students
over 49 received some support
