Should governments regulate the fast food industries in the same way that regulates the drug, alcohol and tobacco industries?
In
this
day and age, more and more attention has been placed on whether governments should manage the fast food
industry in the similar way that the drug, alcohol
and tobacco ones are controlled. From my perspectives, I do not agree with this
idea for the reasons below.
Firstly
, drugs, alcohol
and tobacco are more detrimental to human health than fast food
. Undoubtedly, overeating fast food
possibly leads to some health issues such
as obesity, depression, diabetes type 2 or heart attack
, Suggestion
attacks
nevertheless
, these problems can be prevented by regular exercises and healthier diets. However
, drug addiction and alcoholism are blamed for causing depressive effects on different systems of the human body because they slow down brain function and change the way the nerves send messages back and forth, whereas smoking is able to increase risks
of lung diseases Suggestion
the risk
risk
such
as tuberculosis, emphysema or even lung cancer. For example
, alcohol
addiction causes deterioration in both mental and physical health and they cannot stop using drugs, otherwise
they may have withdrawal symptoms after suddenly ending using it, ranging from mild issues such
as anxiety, headache to more serious problems including hallucinations and seizures.
Secondly
, thousands of dollars every year from the fast food
industry’s revenue are contributed
to the national budgets through business taxes; Suggestion
contributing
therefore
, governments could use this
money to tackle different national affairs. For instance
, some famous global fast food
brands such
as Mc Donald, KFC and Subway generate the amount of revenue that is
bigger than the economic value of various countries all over the world. Indeed, they pay taxes to the state, hence
the authorities can allocate resources to build hospitals, bridges, schools as well as support the state education system and fight the pandemics, and so on.
In conclusion, I would agree that the fast food
industry should not be controlled by the governments in a strict way that the drug, alcohol
and tobacco industries are regulated.Submitted by Trần Hoàng Phương on
