new building and roads. In my opinion, I believe that authorities have a responsibility to protect historical buildings well and the cost for it is necessary.
First
of all, it is no doubt that old buildings, especially heritages, play an important role in a nation’s economy since they attract a large number of tourists. A large number of tourists can promote local consumption growth and provide lots of job opportunities which are helpful to solve the unemployment issues. The country will establish a good international reputation for rich in cultural relics. If these cultural relics are replaced by houses or offices, the number of visitors will decrease, which may cause a negative impact on the country’s economy development.
Secondly
, historical and cultural value is worth considering. Some ancient buildings are witnesses of historical events. They have value of research and help people imagine ancient life. What’s more, when foreigners visit these locations, the government can introduce their local culture and customs, which helps increase international awareness. Citizens will
also
take pride in their historical and cultural heritages. If all historic buildings were demolished, pieces of our history, culture and tradition would be permanently lost. In conclusion, government should invest in restoring old buildings. They’re a part of a nation’s history and being increasingly scarce for many reasons. The needs of development should not be met at the expense of old buildings with an irreplaceable cultural value.
