In the media today, there is an imbalance in the amount of bad news and good news which is reported. So much bad news does not give an accurate picture of the real world and is not good for society. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Every day there is news on the television and the radio about different things happening in the world, mostly negative news than the positive. While some people argue that there should be more good news on the news channels, others say that the bad news is equally important. I think bad news is as beneficial as good news as it not only portrays the actual condition of the
society
but
also
brings positive changes in them. Rather than a figment of imagination, the news is reported as it happens in real life. It mirrors the exact situation of the
society
that needs to be changed for which human knowledge is necessary.
For instance
, currently, the death of George Floyd and Black lives matter is the

also
encourages them to voice and participate in the

of black people’s rights.
Thus
, news shows what part of the

.
Secondly
, when negative news is broadcasted in the news channels, it exposes the public to the negative aspect of
society
. Rather than making a negative impact on people, it helps them to be aware and prepare them for the worst-case scenario.
For example
, when CNN announced the spread of the
coronavirus
in China to the public, people of other countries started implementing plans to stop the spread of the virus in their country.
Hence
, negative news helped to make a positive

in
society
. Even though there is no balance in good and bad news reported by the media, humans can understand it and bring it to a good

.
Thus
, I believe, negative news is

contributing in bringing positive changes in the world.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
