Nowadays animal experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favour of them because of their benefits to humanity. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

It is true that animals are often used as a way to sure whether medical or non-medical products are safe for humans. While the use of animal testing is morally wrong, I believe its effects on medical research will bring positive impact on human beings as a whole. On the one hand, some think that carrying out the experiments on animals should be abandoned. It is morally wrong to exploit animals for the sake of human beings, and they have right to be respected and to live freely.
Furthermore
, during the test of vaccines or medicines, they have to suffer extreme pain and sometimes are being killed.
Also
, medical products that have been developed through animal testing do not mean they are 100%

human beings.
For example
, there was a sleeping pill that causes birth defects,
however
,
this
phenomenon does not appear in animals.
Finally
, with the technological advancements in pharmaceuticals, viable and ethical alternatives are available.
On the other hand
, I believe the use of animals in medical research are needed.
Firstly
, drugs or vaccines need to be tested on animals for the side-effects and safety reasons, and their sacrifice could be justified if that lead to live-saving cures and treatments.
Furthermore
, from the biological perspective, animals,
such
as chimpanzees and rats share similar genes with human beings.
That is
to say, we are susceptible to certain diseases, and if the treatments work out on the animals, it could save thousands of human lives.
Lastly
, animals

better subjects as they have a shorter life - cycle, which means researchers could investigate the effectiveness of vaccine across generation, and determine the feasibility of medicines. In conclusion,
although
the development of medical research on animals is morally wrong, it seems to me that their sacrifice is justified.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
