Dear sir or madam, I am writing
this
letter to explain the reason of my incapability of returning the three books I have borrowed on 16th March. After taking the books from the library, I received an urgent call from my aunt’s neighbour informing me that my aunt had slipped in the bathroom and had a hip fracture and she was taken to the nearest hospital. Immediately, I travelled to Alexandria to visit her. When I arrived at the hospital, I met the responsible doctor in her case who told me that she needs to stay in the hospital for a week. As I am her only relative in Egypt, I have to stay with her until her condition improves, so I will be unable to bring the three borrowed books back to the library on time. As I have been informed of the terms and conditions of the service, I know that the books should be returned within three days of the borrowing day.
Otherwise
, I will be charged a $ 10 fine per book for each day of delay. I hopefully want you to bear in mind the circumstances, I mentioned above and kindly waive any fines that may be accumulated.
Yours f
aithfully, Abdelrahman Ibrahim
