Dear John, Hope you're doing well! A couple of days back, I received your letter and understood that you are confused to opt between a
job
and a graduate study. I'm just writing to express my point of view that pursuing a
job
will be the right choice to choose at
this
juncture of your life. By the way, I came to know that your parents retired, and I'm sure that
this
has put your family in a tough spot with respect to financial matters. If you push yourself to attend college, knowing you all these years, I'm sure that thoughts about money would loom over your mind and wouldn't allow you to perform well at the college. On top of that, I could sense a phenomenal increase in the college fee for
this
academic year. Considering the current factors, I'd suggest you

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
