Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Although
it is sometimes thought advertising is exceptionally persuasive for purchasing, other people believe it is sometimes thought it has become so pervasive that it hardly has an effect anymore. Personally, I support the former view because both new technologies and findings in psychology tend to make it the most effective way of promoting products. On the one hand, there is a widespread belief that advertisements can be easily avoided. Online advertising is mistakenly considered to have little attention because users rarely click or even glance at a

combination of pop-ups, banners and mailing list requests. Being ubiquitous and invasive, advertisements have formed the unconscious individuals’ habit of skipping them.
However
,
this
happens only if advertisers create ineffective campaigns and turn a blind eye to a man’s psychology, while it is essential for having a successful advertising process. I side with those who believe that advertising is the most advantageous practice in convincing people to purchase products. Nowadays there are various ways of promotion, one of which is targeting. Not only does it help to find the target audience, but it
also
allows different companies to create a sophisticated advertising campaign.
Furthermore
, psychologists have found precise shortcuts,
such
a reciprocity, scarcity and consistency, which are to be influenced while promoting. Little do people realise
then
that they are manipulated by advertisers. Having conducted a study, scientists have discovered that advertising today is 53 per cent more effective than it was 20 years ago in the light of the raw data available to target potential customers. To sum up, if it were not for successful advertising, companies would not double their sales conversion in comparison with 2000’s. When main shortcuts, including scarcity and reciprocity, are taken into account, advertising becomes a powerful method of making people eager to buy products.
