A person’s worth nowadays seems to be judged according to social status and material possessions. Old – fashioned values such as honour, kindness and trust, no longer seem important. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Nowadays, moral values have been jettisoned by social status and material possessions as they have become the yardstick of people’s judgement.
This
, I strongly agree with since our emphasis has shifted from moral values to material possessions as against what obtains in times past. Our reward system metrics these days

Firstly
, moral values have been relegated to the background with premium emphasis on social status and material possessions. A clear look at our families, schools and even government affirms
this
fact. Parents no longer teach their children moral values like honour, kindness, trust etc. They are caught up in the rat race of providing for the needs of their homes. Schools have gradually removed moral instruction from their

the need to not offend anyone with their teachings. Government is not left out as appointments are handed out to individuals with questionable characters at the expense of men of integrity.
Secondly
, our metrics for rewarding hard work has changed. It now tends to encourage criminal activities. Nobody cares to know how you made it to be successful, all they care is

that success, wealth and fame no matter whose ass is goosed. I once applied for an entry to an event which the governor will be in attendance and I was likely going to get a postgraduate scholarship. After accessing my profile, the organisers denied me access just because I did not have enough material possessions as they want. But in that same event, I later found out that an ex-convict was given a gate pass just because he was rich and influential. In conclusion, I strongly agree that nowadays a person’s worth is judged by his social status and wealth as moral values seem no longer important.
