Each year, the crime rate increases. What are the causes of crime and what could be done to prevent this rise in criminal activity
It is understood that the ratio of lawbreaking activities is escalating gradually over the years.
This
essay will first
suggest that the biggest factor of criminality is the lack of consistency in penalizing the wrongdoers and then
proffer practicing unprejudiced justifications as a viable solution.
The foremost cause of the increasing transgression rate is the lack of strictness in punishing the criminals. It so happens that on some occasions, people who plays a role in the law enforcement are not as fair as they are supposed to. Some, however not
all, can still be involved in bribery, which may come in the form of money or an offer of position, and accepting it, Accept comma addition
however, not
therefore
making the rich or people in power receives lighter penalty than the ones that are supposed to be burdened upon them, hence
they are more likely to commit a crime without considering the consequences. For example
, the two criminals of different status commit the same misdeed, which is stealing, and are to be sentenced to 6 years of jail time, however
, the person with higher status, being capable of paying off the judge, receives shorter jail time.
A possible solution to this
problem would be to increase the practices of unbiased justifications. By doing so, people will be judged solely by their wrongdoings and given the penalty fairly according to their actions, not their statuses, thus
lawbreakers will more likely to think twice before breaking the law. For instance
, if the rich receives the same punishments as everybody else who commits the crime, they will know, henceforth, that they are not able to use the money to get out of prison anymore, therefore
preventing them to take the consequences of violation lightly which results in people committing less felony from that time onward.
In conclusion, the unfairness that often happen in handling a case is one of the reason lawlessness rate keeps increasing and a possible solution could be to give an equal penalty for each lawbreaker that they will more carefully consider their actions before acting upon them.Submitted by Angela on
