In some countries, celebrities can now earn more than senior politicians. What might be the reason for this? Is this a positive or negative development?

In the modern world the popularity often strongly correlates with the amount of
money
that an individual makes. As
such
, celebrities - popular actors, athletes, singers and TV personalities are often amongst the highest earners in the world. The one notable exception from
this
rule are politicians as their salaries are paid by the state and they are often banned from owning any additional businesses or having another job. The main source of
income
for any celebrity is their public image.
For instance
, an appearance of a famous actor in a film makes it more likely to be popular with the people who like
this
actress.
In addition
,
this
actor can earn
money
by appearing on talk shows, in advertisements and making public appearances. All these sources of
income
depend on the actor's public image and on whether the public is interested in them. To maximise their
income
the spend a lot of time and effort cultivating their image, and making sure they are constantly
talked
Suggestion
talking
about. That can push some of the celebrities to artificially create scandals around themselves in order to maintain their popularity. The
income
of the politicians while they are in office is often closely monitored to make sure their decisions are not dictated by personal gain, but are made in the best interest of the country they represent.
For example
, the president of the USA is expected to make their tax return public when they are elected and move all the businesses they might own into a blind trust.  One of the side effects of
this
arrangement is that people who are primarily motivated by
money
choose not to pursue a career in politics. That being said, I feel it is important to point out that politicians are still earning a lot of
money
by the standard of the country they represent.
In addition
, they get more opportunities to enrich themselves when they retire from their position.
For instance
, ex-president of the USA Barak Obama has made millions of dollars since he left office by lecturing, making public appearances, and writing books about his career and his time as president. In my opinion, the fact that celebrities make more
money
than political leaders of the countries is a positive development.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
