Violence in media promotes violence in society. To what extend do you agree?

It seems that whenever one turns on the television, tunes into the news, or logs into the newest video game, there is a high

of being confronted with scenes of graphic
violence
. The extent to which brutal acts depicted in

promote these actions in reality is a frequent topic of debate. I am of the opinion that violent movies,

normalise and glorify brutality, which in turn may translate to real crimes against real people. Violent acts depicted in

unspeakable acts. People are confronted with imagery depicting scenes of extreme brutality, whether real or simulated, on a daily basis, across all forms of media. Aside from crimes reported on the evening news, there are shows which focus solely on murder investigations, terrorist activities, and twisted acts perpetrated by serial killers. The sheer volume of
such
content, when viewed by an average person, can steadily erode their natural repulsion reflex. When confronted with a real situation, that very person may be more tolerant of horrific acts. The cause of
this
relaxed attitude would be, at least in part, a result of their exposure to countless scenes of extreme

in the media.

the media
not only normalises horrific acts, but it often glorifies them. These acts are often portrayed not as horrible or despicable, but as something good and noble, committed by the protagonist in film or tv shows.
For example
, every James Bond movie features the main character murdering tens of people,

Additionally
, in numerous video games, one can roleplay a character who kills infinite amounts of simulated people. In fact, in games
such
as Call of Duty, the winner is usually the person who can kill the most people within a gaming session. These examples of the media making mass murder seem completely acceptable are very likely fuelling an increase in real life
violence
. Our media today is filled with countless examples of horrific acts, and
this
trend is unlikely to reverse, as people seem to engage

This
tsunami of violent content is making our society increasingly indifferent to brutality, while at the same time often glorifies those who perpetrate it. I find it difficult to believe that
this
dual effect of acceptance and celebration of violent acts would not lead to an increase in real life violent crime.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
