People believe that arts like painting and music does not directly improve the quality of life, and therefore they think government’s money should be spent on other things. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people argue that the improvement of people’s living standard is not directly related to arts,
such
as paintings and music,
thus
it is more reasonable if government fundings are used in other urgent areas. While fields like education, medical care and infrastructure play an important role in people’s
life
, I do believe that spending
money
on the arts will
also
bring benefits to people. Imperatively, there are several reasons why local authorities should invest
money
in things that closely related to people’s
life
.
Firstly
, the investment in education helps ease current couple’s financial pressure, especially for those who cannot afford their children’s high cost of tuition fees.
Therefore
, people are more likely to live in a better quality of
life
because the government helps them to save a part of
money
which could be used in some leisure activities.
Secondly
, a more comfortable and convenient living condition may be created if more fundings are used in traffic construction or hospitals. By expanding the width of roads, building new public transportations or increasing the number of hospitals, it will greatly improve people’s
life
quality. Suffice to note, arts is an indispensable element in society which
also
needs support from governments.
To begin
with,
arts
Suggestion
the arts
are a reflection of a country’s development, which represents the changes in
this
society. Take the United kingdom as an example, paintings in the Renaissance period are mainly described about religion and liberation, whereas artists would prefer drawing worker’s
life
in the industrial revolution. Through those pieces of arts, current people are able to learn their country’s history and improve their visual literacy as well.
In addition
, jobs like musicians will be disappeared if they are not given enough
money
to make ends meet. By and large, spending
money
in areas like transport, education or medical care will definitely change people’s
life
in a short term.
However
, I do agree that governments should not ignore the importance of arts which is
also
essential to a country's development in the long run.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
