Some people believe that the purpose of prison is to punish, while others argue that rehabilitation is its primary role. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Whilst some argues that the prime objective of prisons is
punishment
, others reckon that
rehabilitation
is the key motto. I reckon that the key role of
such
confinements is
punishment
and not
rehabilitation
. Both views will be discussed in the following paragraphs.

punishment
inside the prisons, 80% of criminals did not indulge in any type of

As a result
, they will be actively involved in society and will not have to commit a

again for money.
For instance
, as per the latest study, it has been seen that approximately 40% of the offenders were settled in their life using the skills they learned while being in confinements. To conclude, in my opinion,
although
prison serves both the purpose, the key objective of prisons could be
punishment
and not
rehabilitation
, as I reckon that offenders should realise their mistakes so that they do not indulge in criminal activities again.
