Many children today are exposed to violent video games and TV programmes. How harmful is this? What can be done to fight this problem?

These days kids are often exposed to
games

that are violent and brutal in nature. I believe

technological advances in today’s fast-paced world is rapidly increasing so are the cons behind it are often ignored
such
as
TV

and
games
displaying acts of violence and brutality which are creating a mindset of normality for their viewers.
Furthermore
, If we go by the statistics of the 2011 survey by BBC these
programmes
and
games
are popular among youth and teens who tend to live in a virtual world where they seem to forget the ethics, morality and compassion towards other human beings.
For example
:- A recent gun attack in southern California by a teenager who shot 12 teachers and 5
children
in the Southwest school when arrested he said he felt
this
as a game and task assigned to him.
Hence
, I believe these
games
and
TV
programmes
are having an enormous effect on a child’s brain development especially when they are teens. In order to resolve
this
problem. The key role of parents is involved here
such
as monitoring their
children
’s activity online and in school so that their
children
are not going on the wrong path. Though, these a minor methods of controlling
this
menace.
However
, I believe we definitely need to stop
this
legally. We
first
need to develop and implement laws and regulations to stop the production and supply of
games
and
TV
programmes
of violent nature.
Moreover
, governments and parents need to work hand in hand to solve
this
rising problem. For e.g South African nation which banned commercials,
games
and
TV
programmes
of violent nature experienced a sudden drop in the crime rate which led to safer schools and neighbourhoods. In conclusion, the rising number of
children
being exposed to various violent
games

around the globe . I believe
