Many foods are shipped from far away. Some people think that eating local food is more environmentally and economically. Do you think the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

In
this
day and age of technology, to stay healthy, eating the right food has become more important than ever before. While some people believe relying on local produce is best, it has its benefits and drawbacks. On the one hand, consuming locally produced meat, crops and vegetables have numerous benefits.
Firstly
, It supports the local economy of the region as well as the country. If the demand for local produce is higher, it will make our farmers more income, while extra produce can be exported to other countries.
Secondly
, local produce is fresh and healthy, full of nutrients.
For example
, many farmers sell their produce directly in the farmers market, where one can buy freshly harvested vegetables and salads.
Lastly
, it can be good for the environment. An increase in local edibles can bring a decline in the demand for imported goods, which can contribute to a lower carbon footprint. While it seems local produce has several advantages, it
also
has a few disadvantages. The
first
issue is the variety of produce. Relying solely on regionally grown options for a meal can limit the types of cuisine one can eat, resulting in missing out on some important nutritions.
For instance
, berries contain antioxidants, which are good for our immune system,
however
, it's only produced in areas with lower temperatures. The
next
issue is the quality of the items. Research suggests that all lands are not equally good for all types of crops. Some are more suited to produce certain species.
As a result
, today we can enjoy good quality food of all types. Relying only on local food would mean compromising on quality for a few edibles. In conclusion, it is clear that the benefits of relying on locally produced items outweigh its a few disadvantages.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
