Explain some of the ways in which humans are damaging the environment. What can governments do to address these problems? What can individual people do?

The global
environment
is indeed deteriorating at an accelerated pace, but we can
also
take measures to reduce the damage that we are causing to the planet. In
this
essay, I will discuss several factors that lead to environmental issues and suggest some viable solutions that
governments
and individuals can take to address these problems. There are two of the biggest threats to the
environment
, including air pollution and garbage. About the former, vast amounts of gas emissions from industrial parks or manufacturing plants and exhaust fumes from automobiles running on the roads lead to global warming, which may have a devastating effect on the planet in the future. As for the latter, the human population increases, leading to a growing demand for consumer goods.
As a result
, ever greater quantities of waste will be produced through the production and consumption of goods, contaminating the Earth and polluting rivers and oceans.
Governments
could certainly make more effort to reduce air pollution.
Firstly
, to address the problems mentioned above, they should be,
first
and foremost, brought to the fore.
This
can be done by mounting an international awareness campaign about the dangers and serious repercussions of damaging the
environment
.
Secondly
, it is necessary for
governments
to introduce laws to limit emissions from factories and to force companies to use renewable energy from solar, wind, or water power.
Finally
, green taxes should
also
be imposed on drivers and airlines.
This
would encourage people to take public transport and take fewer flights abroad,
therefore
reducing emissions. Individuals should
also
take responsibility for the impact they have on the
environment
. The
first
solution is that they can walk, cycle or take public transport rather than their private vehicles, choose products with less packaging, reuse plastic bags and recycle as much as possible. Perhaps, a long-term solution is to educate young people about how to be more energy-efficient by simply turning off the lights or TV after use. Since these young people will grow up and act as role models for their children, the impact of
such
an initiative will reverberate through generations to come. In conclusion, both national
governments
and individuals must play their part in looking after the
environment
.
