You work at home and have a problem with a piece of equipment that you use for your job

The curiosity to know how the physical world
work
, kindled in me a desire to pursue Mechanical Engineering. My efforts won me a high rank in a very competitive State Board Examination which granted me admission to Jaipur Engineering and
Research
Center, Jaipur, India. During my under graduation, my interest has been developed for
courses
focused on manufacturing processes, material science, industrial engineering. During my
study
at the baccalaureate, I have nurtured a growing interest in Manufacturing Engineering due to its immense real-life applications and wide scope of
research
. I got admission to one of India’s most prestigious universities, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of
Technology
(SV NIT) to pursue my higher studies. I acquired a scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD) for my Master (M. Tech.)
study
through one of the competitive exams for the engineering field, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). During my graduation, I studied many advanced
courses
such
as modern manufacturing processes, computer integrated manufacturing, rapid prototyping and tooling etc. My dissertation topic was “Investigation on Influence of Process Parameters on Kerf Properties in Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) of Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) Ceramic Material”. The main aim of
this
dissertation was to experimentally
study
the behaviour of PZT material during and after machining with AWJM. The technical paper of my dissertation
research
work
has been accepted in peer-reviewed journals.
This
study
increased my interest in unconventional machining techniques. After completing my graduate
study
I joined as an assistant professor in Gujarat Power Engineering and
Research
Institute, a semi financed institute of the Gujarat Government. I have taught subjects like Manufacturing processes, Production
Technology
, Industrial Automation, Design Engineering. While working in the academic field, except for regular teaching and departmental
work
, I have attended many online
courses
, workshops and short term
courses
to keep myself updated on the latest
technology
and innovations. At GPERI, I worked closely with Siemens Centre of Excellence for product design and validation which have
also
added my abilities to product development and
technology
innovation. I have attended the training of NX CAD, NX CAE, CNC controller programming, Rapid prototyping and tooling under SCoE to operate different labs for undergraduate students. Later on, I was appointed as Chief Coordinator for Siemens Center of Excellence at GPERI. My scientific paper writing skills and adoption of new
technology
have continued to develop throughout my studies and
work
experience. I believe, to be competent and competitive I will require a PhD degree. A PhD degree will give me the up-to-date tools and knowledge that are the need of the hour. For a researcher, working at École Polytechnique de Montréal is an ideal opportunity as it offers a rare combination of state of the art facilities and a vibrant academic environment with excellent industry collaboration. I sincerely believe that the competencies and expertise that I will bring along to your esteemed establishment will act as a positive complement to the vibrant environment. After earning a PhD, I would like to be a part of a leading organization that offers me a position closer to my
research
interests. I would like to thank you for investing your precious time to read
this
personal statement and I look forward to getting a positive response to my application.
