In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this case? What can be done about this problem?

Notwithstanding the development of agricultural industries, undernutrition remains a perennial human problem across the world, with the sheer number of

people

suffering from it. I subscribe to the theory that the root cause of global hunger is penury, and in order to alleviate the problem, economic growth should be stimulated. There are many

people

who are below the poverty line by virtue of the lack of employment opportunities. In fact,

this

unemployment might be rooted in the stagnant economies of developing

countries

. Impoverished

people

would,

therefore

, be unable to purchase adequate

food

supplies. Another reason is the fast-growing global population results in the uneven distribution of

food

resources between and within

countries

, which in turn, leads to life-threatening

food

insecurity. (Another contributing factor would be climate change. As a consequence of

this

, some regions have become less suitable for agriculture.

Hence

not only can it adversely affect

food

production, but

also

aggravates the situation by the increase in

food

prices

as a result

of a lack of arable lands.) it is important to consider that

this

problem is not peculiar to the least developed

countries

. To address the aforementioned issue, some fundamental measures should be taken. It stands to reason that infrastructure is the backbone of any country, as it generates jobs and boosts economic growth. Ergo, only by investing in development projects, would these

people

be employed. One promising avenue is the developed

countries

either allocate funds and development grants to those

countries

or invest in them,

for example

by opening factories. Along with

this

, there should

also

be a focus on providing

people

living in penury with education and skills training that will enable them to obtain employment. With regard to the unequal

food

distribution, the transportation infrastructure needs to be developed, with more administrators managing

food

transfers. (In terms of climate change, all

people

should try to reduce their carbon footprint to mitigate it.) In conclusion, I take the view that the main causes of the existence of chronic hunger are extreme poverty and poor

food

distribution. It is of paramount importance that poor infrastructure of all sectors is improved so as to create more jobs and increase transportation of

food
